#NREA01 #Set walkthroughs

NREA01 (product model NR-KP-DZJ-001A-NA, released December 2025) is the only non-NRSA set in the current NA lineup. Kayou used the placeholder code NRI01 through development and teaser videos; the printed cards shipped under NREA01 and that's now the official set ID. NREA01 covers the Chūnin Exams arc with crossover material and a meaningfully different rarity slate than the NRSA mainline.

It is also the cheapest set to open ($1.99 per pack, vs $3.99 for the NRSA chapters) and the most accessible from a pack-math perspective.

The set, by the numbers

131 distinct card types across eight rarity tiers:

What's missing relative to the NRSA mainline:

The standout is CR (Cloud Rare), which only exists in NREA01. Four cards, cloud-shimmer holo treatment, framed differently from the rest of the NA program.

Pack composition

20 packs per box. Two pack variants:

  1. Base (4/20 per box). 3R + 2SR + 1SSR + 2UR
  2. Chase-eligible (16/20 per box). 3R + 2SR + 1SSR + 1 (UR/MR/SP/AR/CR) + 1 (SSR/SR)

Key differences from the NRSA chapters:

What chases this set

The Monte Carlo simulator typically identifies AR (10 cards) or UR (15 cards) as the bottleneck depending on roll. The smaller chase tiers (MR, SP, CR at 4 cards each) can occasionally bottleneck on bad luck, but their card counts are small enough that the math is forgiving.

Concrete shape:

NREA01's image situation

Every NREA01 card on narutodb currently ships with Chinese-print stand-in artwork. The "Non-English variant" amber chip appears on every card detail page in the set.

Two things to know about this:

  1. The artwork is identical across locales. Kayou re-prints the same illustration for the Chinese and NA versions. Only the print run differs (NA cards have an NA-stamped serial; the back framing is slightly different).
  2. NA scans will replace the stand-ins as they surface. Right now collectors haven't posted enough clean NA scans for the catalog to swap them in. As scans land, the stand-ins get replaced and the chip disappears from those cards. This is the same pattern as parts of NRSA03.

If you have NA scans of NREA01 cards, sending them to admin@narutodb.com is the fastest way to get them into the catalog.

Where NREA01 fits

If you want a master set you can actually finish, NREA01 is the answer. The math is the most forgiving, the pack price is half the NRSA cost, and the slate is small enough that a focused collector can complete it inside a $100-$200 budget for a typical run.

If you've already master-set NRSA01 and you want a second achievable goal, NREA01 is the natural follow-up. The crossover content gives you a different angle on the Chūnin Exams arc than NRSA02 does.

If your interest is specifically the rarest tiers in the NA program: NREA01 isn't the set for you. There's no diamond tier, no serialized chase, no lenticular HR. NRSA03 is where those live.
